The faculty of the Department consists of young and enthusiastic teachers committed to creating a democratic academic culture. At present, it has eight permanent teachers with a wide range of interests and specializations. Apart from the compulsory courses, the Department offers a wide choice of optional courses including 'Women and Political Process','‘Political Economy and Society', 'United Nations’ and 'Asian Political Systems'.
POLSO, the Political Science Society comprises of all the students of the Department. It has a democratic tradition of electing its own representatives who, in consultation with and under the guidance of faculty members, conduct the academic and cultural activities of the Department.
With the advent of the semester system the Department now offers some very innovative optional Papers. Under the discipline centered courses it now offers papers such as
a) Reading Gandhi
b) Citizenship in Globalizing World. In addition the Foundation Course on "Human Rights, Gender and Environment" and an interdisciplinary course on “Democracy and governance” are also offered. The Department also teaches a course in “Disaster management”.
