A BRIEF INTRODUCTION :
Nowdays
a library has come to be regarded as an integral part of the
academic setup of a college, the major aim of which is to
acquire , collect and organise books and other allied reading
materials for use by students and faculty members and thus
to support the teaching programme of the college.
A
modern college is a large and comlex one. So a proper aquaintance
with its organisation is essential for effective use. Therefore
an attempt has been made in this section to acquaint the users
with the library collection, functional units of the library
and their location, scheme of classification of books, shelf
arrangement in the library and the methodology for using the
library catalogue so as to help them to find out their desired
books and allied reading material in the library.
A
library to be managed successfully and effectively requires
certain rules to guide the users as well as the staff members
working in the library. Besides serving as a guide to the
user , the rules become instrumental in acquainting them with
the kinds of services, which the library is capable of providing
to them. Hence a set of rules governing this library has been
outlined here.
The total collection of the library is now 116688. A total of 1216 books of different departments were added during this session. The library subscribe to sixteen dailies and fifty four journals/magazine, both Indian and foreign, relating to different subjects.
